Postural changes during pregnancy
I don’t know about you but it feels like we’re in a bit of a baby boom. I have a lot of friends who are either pregnant or have just had a child and the more I look around the more I see.
During pregnancy a woman’s body goes through an enormous amount of change, for example
– Altered centre of gravity
– Increased weight bearing through joints
– Changes in posture
– Increase of a hormone which causes ligaments to become a little more lax
These changes can put an enormous amount on strain on our physical bodies causing issues such as
– Back pain
– Pelvic pain
– Pubic symphysis dysfunction
– Neck and shoulder pain
Gentle osteopathic techniques can work with the body changes that occur during pregnancy and may be effective in
– Easing body aches and pains
– Helping the body to adapt to the posture and shape changes
– Helping with postural advice
– Removing restrictions or postural issues which can be useful in preparing for labour
In addition, osteopathic treatment during and shortly after pregnancy can also be useful in resolving older aches and pains previously bothersome to the expectant mum.
If this is of interest to you or relevant to a friend, why not give us a call or pass on our number to see if osteopathy could be the answer.
