Revising with good posture
It’s exam time for a lot of kids at the moment. And with that comes long periods of reading, writing, looking at laptops or computers and lots of stress.
Poor revision posture can lead to issues such as neck, shoulder, wrist and back pain.
At work, poor posture would usually be avoided through corrected ergonomics to avoid work related postural strain patterns developing. So why don’t we apply this knowledge to our children?
Does your child look like they are sitting poorly when revising? Do they spend long hours hunched over a laptop or over their notes on the sofa or on their bed? Do they complain of neck and shoulder tension or a bad back? Is there a space at home that could be used as a desk at the right height for them, from which to revise from? Would you know how to set this area up correctly for your child?
Osteopathy can be very useful in advising on correct seating posture and desk set up and also at helping to resolve any pain or discomfort issues which have come about through poor posture.
